Société Audubon Haïti is beginning a new initiative to support the scientific research of this iconic park in Haiti.  Activities in support of the park management plan are planned for 2015-2017 and include capacity building, biological inventories, databasing, conservation and environmental education.  Workshops, such as the March 2015 (photo) event, reached out to 5 schools in the area of the park to provide educational material in addition to continuing the technical and scientific education of the Corps de Surveillance Environnementale, Association des Guides du Parc Macaya and the Unité Gestion du Parc. Funding for the workshops were provided by Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund, SAH, Philadelphia Zoo, the Nature Picture Library and the Ministry of Environment.
